Alexa's Arrival

'Alexa' basically means 'defender of man'. It comes from the family of Alexander, Alexandra, Alexis etc. We know it's sounds really close to Axl... And I was joking that we're kinda setting ourselves up for some major confusion when we get old and senile and end up calling them Alex & Alexa or Axl & Axela or something of sorts. 😂 But I think it's a really beautiful name and love all her shortnames Alex or Lex(y) or Lexa too...

We were scheduled for her Caesarean op at 1pm on 10 October 2017 and had everything well thought and planned out... We would drop off Axl at school at 8am, and head to hospital for admission by 9am leaving us much time to comfortably prepare the arrival of our precious baby girl.

But the night before, we suddenly received a call from the Gynae's clinic that our operation has to be brought forward to accommodate an urgent major operation.

So Caesarean at 9.45am, admit to hospital by 6.30am and fast from 3am onwards instead! While I calmly accepted the new 'call time', my mind scrambled to make all the necessary arrangements. As Ken wanted to send me to the hospital at 6am, we had to ask mom in law to come sleepover at our place to be with Axl. (So thankful we shifted near her place and she agreed without any hesitation. I know, my mil is super awesome!)

It also meant I had to say goodbye to Axl that night and explained that he won't see me when he wakes up the next morning.

Anyway, change is the only constant in life! And the awesome thing about being so flexible and accommodating?? Though our op was scheduled at 9.45am, by time I was prepped and opened up, baby Alexa came out to the time of birth of... 10:10am!!! How perfect can it get... YAY!

6.30AM: SEE YOU BABY NUMBER 2!

6.30AM: SEE YOU BABY NUMBER 2!

8.45AM: SELFIE B4 I HANDOVER MY HP.. HAHA!

 10:15AM: 1ST TIME IN MY ARMS 😭

10:15AM: 1ST TIME IN MY ARMS 😭

My delivery for Axl was quite difficult as I reacted quite badly to the epidural, shivering uncontrollably and quite violently and took a long recovery time after. This time around, my same team of doctors, nurses and anesthetist went the extra mile to warm up the theatre and even epidural before administering it to me. So I reacted much better and recovered quite fast! Day 2 today and I'm feeling awesome! So a big shoutout to Dr Lee Keen Whye, Dr Lim and the nurses at Gleneagles Hospital.
